I grew up and live today in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. I am mainly a guitarist and
singer but recently have added drums, bass, mandolin and banjo to my list of instruments.
Although the occurrences have become less frequent as of late, occasionally I still do a show
with my three piece blues band consisting of Brian Kenny on bass guitar and Greg Clarke
on drums. I also will do a solo or duo acoustic show from time to time.
I've been playing guitar since about age twelve in 1986. I started in small bands around 1989
but in 1994 I started my professional music performance career in a small cover band. Of course
by professional, I mean this was the first time I got paid to play my guitar.
The Blues took over some time around 1996. I started "The Dirty Kitchen Blues Band"
with Steve Adams on drums and Sheldon Crane bass. We enjoyed a good two years or so
hosting the "open jam" at
The Fat Cat Blues Bar
while of course playing gigs and shows here
and there and everywhere we could.
As time passed there were a few changes now and then. We did some shows with Jon LeDrew
on second guitar and some with Terry Fogwill on keys. We even did a few shows with a
small horn section. We finally pretty well settled as a trio again, with David Vivian on bass.
Later on down the road I was joined by Sonny Hogan on drums and Brian Kenny on bass.

In 2001 I released my debut and only album to date;
"... from a Dirty Kitchen" with
Big Red,
as we were then called. The album was fairly small time and largely self produced but a worthy
project none the less.
Over the years we did some higher profile gigs with Juno Fest, George Street Festival and an
ECMA showcase among others. We also played countless regular bar gigs around St. John's.
I managed to share the stage with practically all the local greats and even some from abroad,
most notably backing up Dutch Mason and Tony D.
These days I've broadened my musical style somewhat taking in some Country and pop flavours.
I get to branch out a bit on solo acoustic shows or when Craig Young joins the band on stage.
This freshness is a lot of fun but The Blues will always be my major source of inspiration.
My main thing recently has been the undertaking of a solo recording. I've been doing most of the
playing myself but several friends have lent their talent on a song or two. It's slow going as I'm doing
the recording and production all myself while learning how to do it as I go. It will be interesting
to hear how it eventually turns out... if I ever finish.
